Handling of roundtable moderator №1 III International Economic Business Congress

Moderator of Roundtable  №1 «The territory of advancing socio-economic development: new opportunities» of the III International Economic Business Congress, Director of Far Eastern Institute of Market Research, Doctor of Economics, Professor Vadim Zausaev commented:

Today, the Far East is associated with gold, diamonds, precious metals mining, timber, oil and gas production, and fishing, i.e. stock materials production. The raw products and demand for them in neighboring countries determine initially the contents of what is understood as “economic upturn” in terms of the region. Orientation at the crude products has become a prevailing approach in long-term economic development strategies.

The Far East will certainly increase extraction of raw materials and energy sources and supply them to foreign and domestic markets. However, its southern part, which is the most advanced one, has already become the area where non-resource branches of economy are dominating, such as hydraulic power industry, aviation industry, shipbuilding, transit transport, oil refining, science, higher education and modern health care. Favorable conditions are being provided for the new economics that will ensure considerable increase in labor efficiency and improvement of life conditions.

Civil society is becoming an important factor of successful social and economic development. Far East people do care about the scenario that may be chosen for the region to move forward. Meetings of people concerned, who have different vision of the situation, like this Congress, help to assess current economic policy and elaborate proposals for the policy adjustment.

I wish participants of the III International Economic Business Congress an upsurge of their creative efforts, constructive confrontations and interesting proposals for the benefit of the Russian Far East.
